Recently PECO held a local township presentation on energy conservation. A spokesperson from PECO was there and had some great programs to discuss on how to save energy.

Here’s just one idea you should consider…

PECO has some great programs for homeowners to save energy. And they are offering incentives to dispose of old, energy wasting appliances in your home.

The program is called Smart Sense. Wow, have you seen what they’re doing to get old energy guzzling refrigerators out of service?

You have to ask yourself, does it make sense to hold on to it, especially if PECO will:

  • Pay you $35 per appliance for your refrigerator or freezer.
  • This is a biggie- they’ll have it hauled away for free.
  • And they’ll dispose of it responsibly—in an environmentally friendly way.
  • They’ll even pick up and recycle your old working room air conditioners if you have any along with your refrigerator or freezer but only when a refrigerator or freezer is picked up. And, they’ll pay an additional $25.

You must contact PECO directly for exact details.

  • The fine print (meaning, what does it take to qualify):
  • You must receive electric service from PECO
  • Your refrigerator or freezer must be between 10 and 30 cubic feet in size.
  • Non-working units not accepted. It must be empty and working at the time of pick-up.
  • And most importantly, you must have clear and safe path for removal. The removal team will not risk injury, remove personal effects or modify your home (e.g. remove doors or railings) to remove the unit(s).

So if you have old, inefficient units around your house, there may never be a better time and more economical way to retire them. Call PECO or visit them online and be sure to give Rush Appliance Services a call to help you find the perfect replacement for your old appliances.
